Ignit​e Choir

Founded in 2005, ignite choir was created to fulfill the needs of Ignatians Musical Society members who were unable to be involved in full scale performances. The choir is an un-auditioned, so anyone is welcome to join and no previous experience is necessary - although a significant number of the choir members have been involved in Ignatians musicals in the past. We cover a wide range of styles – from classical to Gilbert & Sullivan, Broadway to pop – which means there’s sure to be some repertoire to suit your interests.​

Ignite rehearses on TUESDAY nights at Sherwood State School, Old Hall - Sherwood Rd, Sherwood.

We meet at 7:00pm for social and admin time, then rehearsals run from 7.30 – 9.30pm and sessions generally follow the school term dates with a break over the school holiday periods. There is a small fee per term. No experience necessary. Contact us to register your interest in attending.

Saturday 7 March 7:00pm - Open Mic Night

Open Mic Nights are open to our members and their guests.

We hold these nights to give members an opportunity to sing solo, duets or small groups in a supportive environment. Members can sing the style of their choosing and as such, these evenings are always enjoyable and often surprising. Talents are revealed and stories unfold. 

These nights encourage members to get to know each other better and are a truly heartwarming community event.

Come along as a performer or an audience member and you will thoroughly enjoy yourself. Food and drink is BYO, so you can add your personal touches to the evening.

Saturday 28 March 3:00pm - Choral Classics Concert

Ignite Choir in Concert - a celebration of united, harmonious voices

We are very excited to present our next concert featuring a wide variety of Classical styles, with composers such as Mozart, Vivaldi, Benjamin Britton, Gilbert & Sullivan, and Choral masters John Rutter, John Leavitt and Stephen Leek.

We are thoroughly enjoying this classical repertoire and celebrating the musical beauty of united, harmonious human voices. Our venue, the City Tabernacle Baptist Church in Spring Hill, is a glorious building with inspirational acoustics - the perfect setting to celebrate this wonderful music.

We hope to see you there for our concert and afternoon tea. It will be a concert to remember.

28 January - 28 March - Term 1 2020

Term 1 2020 is underway

As you can see above, we are busy getting ready for a fabulous Choral Classics concert with the biggest collection of voices Ignite has ever had. This promises to be a fab term. Open Mic is coming up and our rehearsals are getting more exciting by the week. We are happy to invite new membership up to about week 6 of the term (3rd March) as historically, most people prefer not to start too close to a performance.

New attractions for 2020!

1. NEW VENUE - moving from the Sherwood State School music rooms across to the Old Hall. As we have grown, it will be more comfortable in this new space and we are very excited for the year ahead.

2. NEW ACCOMPANIST - Blake Peterson, who will lend his considerable skills to our rehearsal and performance preparation.
